Change and Loss

The decision was made. The wheels of change were set in motion. And I was doing just fine. Work to go to. Life group to prepare for. Friends coming over for dinner.

On the fourth day, I noticed a few stray thoughts that got me a little choked up...

A Prophetic Roar

I can hardly believe that it's already been a month since our amazing We Are One women's conference. Would you just stop for a moment, close your eyes, and gather your thoughts and memories about that powerful weekend.

  • What were the moments your heart still breathes in?
  • What are the words that were spoken that still linger in your mind?
  • How has your relationship with the Lord been different since then?

For me, I found myself both encouraged and challenged by the word Pastor Kim brought on the Friday evening, about Living like a Hero.

Encouraged, because she shared a revelation about Jesus as the Lion of Judah - that we are one with Him, that we carry His very being and characteristics, and that He is fierce on our behalf. Fierce to love us magnificently and set us free from all fear and intimidation. Fierce to fight for us, rescue us, and move on our behalf.  It was so encouraging to know that because We Are One with Jesus, when the enemy looks at us, he sees Jesus in His ferocity as the Lion of Judah, and he (the enemy) has to flee!

And then challenged, because there was an invitation to respond to the Lion of Judah engaging us and calling us into everything that He has designed us to be, and to believe all that He says we are. Challenged to believe and trust Him in every moment, to step forward and not back down, to hold our ground and not let the enemy bully us into withdrawing into small, weak and restricted lives.

You are the heroine in your own story.
You have the opportunity to live an exhilarating life in oneness with Jesus Christ -
To recognize your value,
find your courage
and discover the life you are designed to live.

It was a word that I desperately needed to hear in my own life that weekend. It was a word I still needed to hear and remind myself about last night. Even today again. Chances are, it is the same for you. This message is for all of us as women. This is an invitation from Heaven for us, His precious daughters, to step into the reality of who the Father says we are. He is so intentional about all that He does. He is intentional about giving you this message in this exact season.

Here is a video of the prophetic word the Lord spoke to Pastor Kim, for all of us to hear. I believe this needs to be heard again, written down and inscribed on our hearts. Ask Holy Spirit to quicken to you what your heart needs to hear, as you read along and watch this prophetic roar.

…And He in this most amazing, kind voice, but yet such an intentional voice, spoke these words to me:

He said, “Kimberly, We are One. We are not two. We are One.

I have not called you to be encased in fear and intimidation, without a voice. I have indeed called you to uncage the courage that I have placed within you. I have called you to uncage Me, as the Lion of Judah, that is One with you. But you have kept Me caged. And you have not operated in this arena of courage with a voice.”

And He said, “I am calling you to know, daughter, that you are Mine and we are One. And I am a Lion of Judah, and as I am a Lion of Judah, then you are also a lion with all of the nature, all of My attributes as this Lion of Judah. And indeed I have called you not to walk in fear and intimidation. But when you know that you have a fierce faith on the inside of you, and that fierce faith has a voice, you will use your voice and that voice will roar! That voice will roar and it will be heard and it will send such a vibration that it will send the enemy running!"

And He said, "Not only is this true of you, this is true of all of my daughters. This is true of you.”

And He said, “When my daughters choose to believe, believe, that We are One - we are not two, we are not separate - that We are One and I desire to roar in you and through you, you will be absolutely unstoppable, and you will send the enemy to flight. You will no longer be one who is sitting back intimidated, afraid to do the wrong thing!"

Dig a little deeper

I want to encourage you to go back over your notes. Go back over the encounters you had with the Lord. Ask yourself what has changed since the conference? What needs to change? What dreams did He breathe on and awaken to hope again? What goals need to be set as the vision has been cast? You can even set aside some time to watch the sessions again. You can find them right here. Don't let the power of the conference pass you by because life got busy. Engage Him. Engage the Lion of Judah and let your faith rise up to meet Him in His call to you in the story of your courageous and heroic life.

A Legendary Life

I've come across the story of Aimee Semple McPherson lately and have been completely fascinated by her life lived in the first part of the 1900s. She was a woman who was deeply convinced that God had called her to preach the gospel and do the work of the evangelist. Being a woman, this was completely counter-cultural and against the religious systems of the day.

You are Officially Invited

I was once brave enough to attend a women’s conference on my own. I flew out of Amarillo and landed at Denver International with only a set of emailed instructions. They would be corralling a bunch of perfect strangers and busing us up the Rocky Mountains for our weekend retreat.

True to the nature of the Lord and the way He always sets us up for these things, He had already started working on my heart during the plane ride. “Oh how precious!” you may think.

Uh. No.

I was a hot mess. My makeup (which I’m already insecure about), was halfway smudged off my face. My eyes were now a lovely moist red, and my cheeks were showing off a magnificent splotchy glow.  Ironically, the conference was called Ransomed Femininity

Clearly, my femininity needed a little help!

I had a couple of hours to calm the flare up down, so I sat at a safe distance observing the gathering gaggle of women. It was hard not to notice the all-American blonde in a perfectly contoured coat, effortlessly gliding across the floor in her red-soled stilettos as the bling on her couture purse blinded me for an instant. It was also hard not to notice the defenses rising up in me as I wiggled my toes in my comfy shoes and awkwardly smoothed my grandpa sweater.

I became all too aware of the question marks in my heart as I surveyed every woman that crossed my line of sight.

Is she safe? How “spiritually mature” do I look to her? Should I have brought my flat iron? Will she respect my story and my heart? Or will she resent me? Will my sensible clothes be enough? Will I be good enough for that group of women? Or will I be judged for my wounds? Shunned because of my history? And is there something stuck in my teeth?

Despite all these fears and insecurities, I eventually got on that bus and said a brave hello to many new beautiful faces and stories. I embraced the process of that weekend, bared my heart and leaned into this community of His daughters.

And I came home, powerfully transformed by His love and all that He had prepared for me on that mountain.

Why that story?

As we prepare for the upcoming We Are One conference, I am all too aware of the many women that will find themselves a little nervous and unsure about showing up to our church. I imagine that the story above captures just a small glimpse of many hearts and experiences around greater gatherings of women. However, I am even more profoundly aware of what God has in store for these conference-bound women. He is preparing a feasting table for them. He wants to woo them deep into His love. And He wants to transform their lives forever.

The Invitation

So this invitation goes out to you... Will you be a beautiful someone that will help another potentially self-confessed hot mess like me, come into the door of our church? You could be the one that clears a path so that she will be able to receive all the magnificence that God has wrapped up for her in this conference.

Be the one to help set the stage for welcoming her beauty.

Be the one to show her where she can calm down the flare ups in these huge halls.

Be the one to introduce her to the friend who is safe. And outrageously hilarious.

Be the one to pass her an extra tissue.

Be the one to fawn over her comfy shoes.

Be the one to pray with her as she pours out her heart at the altar.

Be the one to love her magnificently when she confesses her darkest secret.

Sign Up already!!

Will you join us? Will you be a Dream Girl who serves at the We Are One conference? We need you to be the one.
